The State Senate and Assembly have both passed a new tax relief bill today to finally grant New Jersey taxpayers additional time to file and pay their taxes until July 15, 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Murphy is expected to sign the bill into law tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14, 2020. In anticipation of the Governor signing the bill, the New Jersey Division of Taxation has posted the applicable tax filings that have been granted relief. Please read below to review what has been extended and what isn’t covered by tax relief.
Returns filings and payments covered:
- Gross income tax (Individuals/Trusts) returns, extensions and associated payments
- Corporation business tax (C Corps/S Corps) returns, extensions and associated payments
- First quarter estimates (GIT/CBT) originally due April 15, 2020
- Partnership tax returns, extensions and associated payments
What’s not included:
- Sales tax filings and payments
- Payroll tax filings and payments
- Excise tax filings and payments
- Inheritance taxes
- Second quarter estimates tax payments due June 15, 2020
